REWILDING imagines a state of harmony between concrete and jungle. Using 1 video channel and 1 audio input, co-artists Lillian Zunrou Lin and Ian Wang created a projection art for the CONCRETE OASIS exhibition at the Frank Gehry-designed The Grand LA. The 21:9 video pans through four loops of a panoramic footage of an ongoing construction site taken at The Grand LA. As each panoramic loop ends and restarts, the space seamlessly transforms into a rainforest on the skeleton of the original site, evoking a future present where nature delicately reclaims an industrialized city.

By using the mirror as an alternative screen, Third Culture Kid plays with the concept of looking and private memory. The piece invites the spectator to gaze at imageries that constitute a complex bicultural identity for a third culture kid (the artist), projected onto an object—a mirror—that traditionally reflects the looker.
The mirror’s conventional use is also replicated through a webcam, situated to capture the spectator, that projects realtime footage onto the mirror simultaneously. Through this overlap, Third Culture Kid brings any spectator into the private memories of the artist.

Sacrifice Zone: Los Angeles (SZ:LA) is a collaborative environmental justice project funded by grants from USC Arts in Action and the Arkay Foundation.
SZ:LA tackles climate change from the perspective of sacrifice zones—the places in our city that have been harmed by ongoing problems such as oil drilling and industrial toxins. It utilizes multimedia enriched, documentary theatre & film storytelling tools and techniques to highlight the damaging effects of decades of industrial pollution on South Los Angeles communities.
Lillian sourced used furnitures and objects to build a realistic home environment. She worked with a team to design the space and created interactive multimedia content to bring the space to life.
